The Expedition

The Coral Reef Systems team coordinated an expedition to the Southern Line Islands to investigate how does reef ecosystem productivity varies across natural conditions, similar to earlier work in the Northern Line Islands in 2010.  The effects of natural variability are unveiled by studying a series of uninhabited islands in the Southern Line Islands group. In order to develop effective conservation targets and management strategies we need to know the range of possibility for fisheries across natural gradients in oceanography in the absence of people.

The Blog

Similar to the original 2010 expedition, the research team blogged throughout the 2013 Expedition to share notes from the field .
